Artist Statement:
”Trails,” as a multi-media printmaking piece, attempts to encompass and put on display the assortment of social-economic, cultural exchanges brought forth by the historic Silk Road and the great Columbian Exchange of “Old” and “New” world items. Fruits, Vegetables Rice, Teas, Spices and more are not only shown in flux but shift in printmaking technique. ”Trails” seeks to show viewers how intricately intertwined our global communities are in reality where distinguishing what is or isn’t belonging to one part of the world is in reality an assorted blur - a merging and exchange of ideas, technologies and cultural norms. The piece attempts to put on display this ever-continuous flux of object exchanges based on proximity, placement/displacement and association.
